At Robertson Williams Transport (RWT), fuel delivery is much more than just getting from point A to point B. It’s a carefully orchestrated, around-the-clock operation driven by precision, communication, and expertise.

Our dispatching team is at the heart of that operation, ensuring that every gallon of fuel—whether gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, ethanol, propane, DEF, jet fuel, or aviation gas (AvGas)—reaches its destination safely, efficiently, and right on schedule.

Here’s an inside look at how our dispatching team helps us safely deliver fuel with ease, specificity, and reliability across Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois.

24/7 Operations: Divided and Conquered Across Four States

RWT operates three dedicated dispatching teams to manage deliveries across our service regions:

  • Kansas City and Joplin, Missouri
  • Iowa and Mid-Missouri
  • St. Louis and Illinois

Each dispatching team is staffed with a two-person rotation, running operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our dispatchers work 3½-day shifts, providing seamless coverage without interruption.

Their main mission? Accept customer fuel orders, dispatch them to our company drivers, and manage every step of the delivery process from start to finish.

The Critical Link Between Customers and Drivers

Our dispatchers serve as the direct connection between our customers and our drivers.

When we place the order for our customer or a customer places their own order, the dispatcher immediately goes to work—scheduling the right driver, coordinating pickup and drop-off logistics, and ensuring delivery meets exact specifications.

They oversee every aspect of the order in real-time, adjusting routes as needed, keeping customers updated, and solving problems before they arise.

With their deep industry experience and logistical expertise, our dispatchers ensure the flow of information is fast, accurate, and action-driven.

Smart Fuel Management: Monitoring Stores and Market Pricing

Fuel dispatching at RWT is more than just coordinating trucks—it’s also about precision inventory and pricing management.

Our dispatchers manage Keep Fuel Stores, monitoring customer fuel tank levels to ensure stores are automatically replenished without interruption. By proactively managing inventories, they help customers avoid costly downtime and maintain operational continuity.

In addition, RWT dispatchers manage customers whose fuel purchases are tied to stock market pricing. Especially in our Kansas City markets, our dispatchers monitor fuel prices in real time, placing strategic orders when costs hit target levels specified by our customers.

It’s a highly specialized task requiring market awareness, agility, and careful timing—all handled with expertise by our team.

Managing Drivers, Compliance, and Operational Excellence

Beyond order coordination, RWT dispatchers are responsible for managing driver logistics.
This includes:

  • Monitoring truck detention times
  • Tracking driver locations
  • Ensuring compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations
  • Managing legal limits for daily and weekly driver hours

By closely monitoring every movement, our dispatchers protect both our drivers’ safety and our customers’ service expectations—keeping deliveries compliant, efficient, and on schedule.

Each dispatcher reports directly to one of our two Operations Managers, ensuring strong oversight and a clear chain of communication across our entire delivery operation.
